Central Elementary School

🍎2nd Grade had tons of apple fun today with apple volcanos and q-tip painting! We can't wait to see what else this week has in store for us! 🍏

A few of Mrs. Skaggs' younger students had some hands-on fun with a Gummy Worm Investigation! They combined science and math as they observed gummy worms and explored their color, texture, size, and other characteristics. The students practiced measurement by using blocks to determine the length of their worms, made observations using their senses, and even tested what happened when the gummy worms were placed in water. Learning is always a little more fun when you can see it, touch it, measure it—and maybe even eat it when you’re finished!

ALL-IN FOR STUDENTS AT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY

What a wonderful day of learning at Central Elementary!

Principal Conley, teachers, and students were truly ALL-IN during today’s Learning Walks. It was exciting to see teachers bringing i-Ready Classroom Math  to life through strong instruction, student engagement, and a shared commitment to doing what is best for every learner.

What stood out most was the dedication of the Central team. From Principal Conley’s instructional leadership to teachers’ willingness to reflect, collaborate, and go above and beyond, there was a clear focus throughout the school: our students are worth the work.

A special thank you to Alisha Hall with Curriculum Associates for partnering with us and helping facilitate today’s Learning Walks. We appreciate her support as our teachers continue to strengthen implementation and grow together.

Great things are happening at Central Elementary and across our district because of educators who are willing to go above and beyond and be ALL-IN for students!

Looking for something meaningful to do with your family today? FCC Paintsville is hosting a Community Praise & Worship Event from 12:00–6:00 PM at 514 Main Street in Paintsville. There will be live music from local groups, multiple food trucks, and churches from across our community coming together for an afternoon of fellowship, praise, and worship. Several familiar faces from our community will be sharing their talents throughout the day! Check out the lineup below and stop by whenever you can. We love seeing the community come together!

This afternoon's Black and Gold Battles included fun student games of volcanoes/craters, basketball knockout and rock, paper, scissors. Teachers and football coaches also competed in a rock, paper, scissors finale with the students' winning the overall challenge! A great afternoon of fun to end a wonderful week of learning!

We celebrated our 2nd and 3rd grade JCEAA Football CHAMPIONS this afternoon at our Black and Gold Battles. Congratulations to those kids and their coaches! 🏈

Big moves in Boyd County yesterday! Huge congratulations to our Johnson County Cross Country Eagles for digging deep and showing up strong at the Giovanni’s Boyd County Invitational. 🦅👟💨 Every mile, every effort, every personal record counts, and these young runners left it all on the course!
