Urgent message for seniors!!!! It has come to my attention many of you still haven’t filled out your FAFSA. This is a free application for the federal government to give you money to go to college or trade school. Even if you end up not going it is still important to have this filled out. You never know when you may decide to go back to school and at least your funding would be there. Big Sandy admissions advisors along with myself and anyone else I can get to help will be holding another FAFSA workshop on March 26th 1:00-5:00. From 1-3 Big Sandy will be here and then I am staying 1- 5 or ever how long it takes to get everyone taken care of. Make sure when you come you have a copy of your 2018 tax return. There is a sign-up sheet in the office for those still needing to get this filled out. Please sign-up so we can see how much help we need to get everyone taken care of. Senior Update: It is getting very close to graduation and many deadlines and many important details need to be taken care of for graduation. 1. Check the list online at the school social media sites or the Johnson Central High School class of 2019/2020 Face book page and make sure your name is on there and it is spelled correctly. The list will go in for the diploma order at the end of school day on Wednesday 2/26. If you need a correction, please comment or email me at sherrie.grierson@johnson.kyschools.us 2. Please stop by and pick up order form for cap and gown package. If you can’t come by school and pick up form you can order online at Jostens.com or call in your order at 1-800-Jostens (567-8367). If you need help with getting a cap and gown for graduation please call Ms. Lynn Wilcox in the youth services center and she will get you down to reserve one. Do this as soon as possible she has a limited number of caps and gowns and sizes. 3. Make sure you have filled out your FAFSA which if the federal government application for financial aid. The website is fafsa.gov and you will have to have a copy of your parent or guardian’s 2018 tax return to complete the application. If you need help please call or stop by and talk to Sherrie Grierson at the high school. I plan on having another FAFSA workshop with Big Sandy so keep an eye out for date and time. 4. Also if you know where you are going to attend school next fall check their website and see what institutional scholarships they offer. 6. Most importantly check all your grades in all your classes and especially in those classes you must pass in order to graduate. Stay on top of your classes and don’t let yourself fall behind.
