Apple tasting today in Agriculture. The winner was HONEY CRISP! Kids learned about orchards and the many types of apple varieties.

Crochet club continued to work on creating a circle with single stitch. Thank you to community partner Stephanie Burchett for guiding us today!

Congratulations to our JCMS Eagle Spotlight for October 2025! Thank you, Miss Courtney Sparks and Mrs. Stephanie Moore, for being leaders in the school and soaring above the rest! We're so blessed to have you as part of our team! #Eagle4Life #JCMSStrong

We would like to thank our community partners from Christian Appalachian Project for sharing such an engaging activity for our Eagles to make their own bead art.

Just a reminder to our Eagles and their parents. Have a great fall break. Happy Apple Day!!

✨🗂️ October Spotlight: Habit 3 – Put First Things First! 🗂️✨
This month, we’re highlighting Habit 3: Put First Things First – Work First, Then Play! 🕒
It’s all about learning to manage our time, prioritize what matters most, and follow through on commitments.
When we Put First Things First, we focus on doing the important things before the fun or easy distractions. Whether it’s completing homework, helping at home, or being a good friend, leaders know how to balance responsibility and fun.
Keep the leadership growing at home! Use the Leader in Me teen book provided to all middle schoolers and reflect together:
✅ What are my top priorities each day?
✅ How do I handle distractions or procrastination?
✅ What can I do to stay organized and follow through on my goals?
Students who learn to stay focused and manage their time effectively are building habits that lead to success now—and in the future! 💼🌟

Monthly Newsletter from our FRYSC Director, Ms. Stiltner! 🦅 🖤

‼️ The end of the nine weeks is Thursday, October 2, 2025! Students, please remember to get all missing work in before the break! 🦅 💛

Mrs. Perkins’ class has been working so hard the past two months reading The Outsiders! 📚 We’ve taken quizzes, completed assignments, and dug deep into the story. As a reward, we got to watch the movie together while enjoying Alfredo, baked ziti, and (of course) the famous Outsiders chocolate cake — with chocolate milk to drink! 🍝🍫🥛
Stay gold, everyone! ✨

✨ Outsiders Dress-Up Day! ✨
Our 8th graders have fully stepped into the world of The Outsiders! After diving into S.E. Hinton’s novel, today they got to bring the story to life with a Greasers vs. Socs dress-up day. 🧥💄🕶️
They’re not just dressing the part—they’re also critiquing the 1983 film adaptation, analyzing casting choices, soundtrack, and how the events from the book were portrayed onscreen. 🎬📚
Who wore it better—the Greasers or the Socs? 👀

To finish out the 1st term, Mrs. Caudills life skills classes are making homemade ice cream!

JCMS Student Council volunteered at the UK Extension office last Tuesday. The students had a blast helping to prepare the apples for dipping, covering the dipped apples in nuts, and even making orders for wedges as they came in! Thank you to the Johnson County 4H!

Congratulations to Jayden Maples for getting to represent JCMS at Apple Day this Friday by competing in the spelling bee competition!

Teamwork makes the math work!
Mrs. Patrick’s Math 7A classes are crushing their i-Ready workbook pages using the Kagan Simultaneous RoundTable structure. It’s amazing to see the collaboration and active engagement as every student contributes! #JCMSstrong #GoEagles

Students in Mrs. Hamilton's class created a working pinwheel using the convection heat from the candles to move the fan.

🙌 8th Grade Math Shout-Out! 🙌
Our mathematicians used the Kagan Structure "Jigsaw" to dive into the Triangle Sum Theorem today! 🔺✨
Each group became “experts” on part of the concept, then came back together to teach their teammates. Students collaborated, explained their thinking, and pieced the puzzle together just like the theorem itself—the sum is greater when we all contribute! 💡🤝
Proud of the way they owned their learning and supported each other—this is math AND teamwork at its best! 🎉
