To build reading stamina, Mrs. Preston's 8th Grade ELA students kicked off the school year with independent novels. These students visited the library to choose their books and they're practicing Sustained Silent Reading several times per week. There is nothing better than diving into a good book! 📖

Mrs. Caudills Career Choices/Life Skills classes enjoyed having a virtual guest speaker through Discovery Education's Career Connect! We learned about moving countries for a career and how changing careers can be a fun new experience! We now know interesting information about the hospitality industry and the banking industry!

The 8th Grade Engineering class held its inaugural Skimmer Championship on Friday! Huge congratulations to Kennley and TY for their outstanding performance!

🎉 What an AWESOME day in Mrs. Spradlin’s classroom! 🎉 We kicked off our morning diving into fractions and decimals in math 🧮. The class took guided notes like pros and tackled practice problems with confidence—these mathematicians are really getting the hang of it! 🙌 In Social Studies, we took on some challenging (and exciting!) Ancient Rome vocabulary 🏛️—from plebeians to Pax Romana, and even mosaics! Thanks to all the fun Blooket games we’ve played this week, these tricky terms are starting to stick! 🧠💥 Science time brought even more fun as we watched a BrainPOP and wrapped up organizing our notebooks 🧪📓. There were laughs, learning, and LOTS of “a-ha!” moments throughout the day. It’s always a great day when we’re growing and having fun at the same time! 💡❤️

Adventures in Mrs. Spradlin’s Classroom! Today was packed with fun, learning, and a whole lot of excitement! 🎉 In Math, we went Around the World in an epic Escape Room Challenge 🌎💡—racing against the clock to crack codes and solve tricky order of operations puzzles to unlock all the locks! ⏱️🧠 Our journey was so thrilling, we even had a surprise visit from Mrs. Davis, our principal, who joined in on the adventure! 🏫✨ Then, we dove back into our Parts of Speech with some guided notes and sharpened our organization skills by giving our notebooks a little TLC! 📝 To top it all off, we wrapped up the day with a high-energy Blooket review game to prep for our vocabulary test tomorrow! 🎮📚

🎉✨ What an exciting day in Mrs. Spradlin’s class! ✨🎉 Our mathematicians got to work this morning diving into the order of operations! 🧮 We solved problems on paper, then double-checked with calculators to see if our answers matched—spoiler alert: they did! ✔️💡 Then it was time to put on our adventurer hats in Language Arts! 🏰🐉 We went on a thrilling quest through a castle guarded by a fierce dragon to find the missing orb—all while mastering our nouns and verbs! 💬🔍 To wrap up our day, we challenged Mr. Daniels to complete the quest… and guess what? We ALL escaped the castle and proved we are officially Noun & Verb Masters! 🙌🎓 And that’s not all—we even got to play Crypto Hack on Blooket to review our Social Studies vocabulary for Friday’s quiz! 🧠💥 The competition was fierce, the learning was fun, and we’re feeling confident and ready! Way to go, team! 🏆📚🔥

We battled it out in Blooket games, teamed up on Quizzes, and hit those index cards like pros! 💥🧠💯 This crew is on FIRE 🔥 and ready to dominate those i-Ready lessons and crush that vocab test! Whew! It’s only the third day of school and we’re already ready for a nap… or two. 😴 But don’t let the yawns fool you — we’ve been up to some pretty exciting math magic today! ✨➕➗ Our classroom dove into the wonderful world of Order of Operations (aka PEMDAS — Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally 🧓), and let me tell you, Aunt Sally was BUSY today. Students teamed up like math detectives to solve our Mystery Math Problem of the Day, and the collaboration was incredible. 🕵️‍♀️🧩 Each group tackled the challenge with grit, giggles, and a lot of parentheses. The best part? We had brave volunteers become teachers for a moment, stepping up to show their classmates not just what they did, but why they did it. I am beyond proud of their leadership, teamwork, and confidence! 🗣️👏 If this is how we’re starting the year, I can only imagine the awesomeness ahead. 📚

📚✨ Cozy vibes + great books = the perfect combo in Language Arts today! ✨📚 Mrs. Spradlin’s class had a blast during independent reading time — and it’s all thanks to a NEW addition to our classroom: a cozy reading corner complete with a comfy couch 🛋️, a recliner 🪑, and shelves filled with ALL kinds of books! 😍📖 The couch and recliner were donated to our classroom over the summer (huge thanks to own AMAZING woman ❤️), and let’s just say… the kids are LOVING it! From curling up with their favorite series to discovering new adventures on the shelves, everyone was relaxed, focused, and truly enjoying their time with a good book. 🧠💡✨ Here’s to more comfy, cozy, and captivating reading days ahead! 🥰📚
