Highland Elementary Spirit Week


Message from Mr. Thom Cochran:
Due to high water concerns and continued heavy rain predicted, Johnson County Schools will be dismissing early today, Feb. 20, 2019. Elementary Schools will be releasing at 11:30 am. JCMS and JCHS will be releasing at 11:45. Thank you.
*Highland Elementary will not be having After School Services today.

Highland Elementary’s Warming Warriors spoke with Johnson County Judge Executive, Mark McKenzie, today about their project. It takes all of us working together to create a brighter future for Johnson County!





Update for Spirit Week:
Wed. Feb. 20 - GOLD RUSH, wear gold to support our EAGLES!

In support of the girls and boys basketball teams and our cheerleaders, we will be having spirit week for the remainder of the week! We would like to wish all our former Wildcats good luck along with the rest of our Eagles! Go Eagles!!

Highland Elementary students had the honor of meeting author Mike Norris and illustrator/folk artist Minnie Adkins. Students had an outstanding educational experience. A huge thank you to Resource Center Coordinator Kathleen Burchett for sponsoring the program. #Eagle4Life

Four Highland Elementary students were selected for Kentucky’s All State Choir. They were honored to perform in the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts in Louisville, Kentucky.


Mrs. Adkins’ 2nd grade class participate in student led conferences. 😀

Highland Elementary’s Warming Warriors passed out groceries to 85 families at the Paintsville First Church of God Food Pantry. This CmPS team is sustaining the impoverished, one life at a time.

It’s with great pleasure that Highland Elementary would like to congratulate Mrs. Latonya Rowe on being selected by the Kentucky Council of Teachers of English Board as ELEMENTARY TEACHER OF THE YEAR! Congratulations to Mrs. Rowe, it is well deserved!





New cafeteria tables at Highland Elementary! Love the way the school district strives to provide our students with the very best. A special thank you to Superintendent Thom Cochran and Director of Nutrition Services Marsha Coleman for making this happen! Can’t wait for the kids to see these!

Highland Elementary’s Warming Warriors have set up a coat rack to share coats with anyone in need. Stop by the Coffee House and take what you need: coat, scarf, hat, gloves, boots or blanket. If you have something to share, please feel free to leave it!!
