Registration 10:30 a.m.
Time of Contest 11:30 a.m.
GUIDELINES FOR GIRLS AND BOYS
GIRLS:
1. Old fashion costume, 1800’s Period “Little House on the Prairie” Era.
2. Must be homemade.
3. Not to be fancy, lace not to be used.
4. Zippers and buttons are allowed.
5. Length varied from mid calf to ankle length.
6. Bonnets, ribbons and ruffled dusk caps are appropriate.
7. Umbrellas are not allowed (because of danger).
8. No tennis shoes, old fashion shoes, if possible (for example, dark lace-up ankle boots) or plain dark dress shoes. (Shoes will not be the deciding factor in Judges’ decision.)
BOYS:
1. Old fashion costume. 1800’s Period.
2. Homemade or bought and redone.
3. Overalls are permitted.
4. Knickers, long pants or Frontier look (for example Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett) may be used.
5. If Frontier outfit is used, please no guns or knives (play or real) are allowed (because of danger).
6. No Tennis shoes, wear shoes appropriate for costume worn, or as close as you can get. Dark leather shoes can be used if you cannot find any others. (Shoes will not be the deciding factor in Judges’ decision.)
GIRLS - FORMAL - ALL AGES
1. Must be homemade – Example: Victorian Style
2. Can use velvets and satins
3. May use lace, zippers, bows and be fancy
4. No umbrellas (because of danger)
5. No tennis shoes
6. Mid-calf – ankle length
COSTUMES JUDGED ON: AGE CATEGORIES:
1. Originality 1 - 2 years
2. Suitable of material 3 - 5 years
3. Proper fit 6 - 7 years
4. Appropriate for time period 8 - 9 years
5. Overall effect of costume 10 - 14 years
15 thru Adult
*Trophies will be awarded to first place winners in each category.
