After direction from Paintsville/Johnson County 911 and the Kentucky State Police, Johnson Central High School and Johnson County Middle School campuses, along with the Central Elementary School campus, were put on a soft lockdown following an incident occurring within city limits.  District and school administrators immediately began procedures to confirm that all three campuses were secure and approximately 2,000 students were safely inside buildings.  During lockdowns, visitors are not permitted on school property and students are not permitted to leave school property.  Parent and community notifications were made via Thrillshare to District and school web pages, Facebook and Twitter.  Please understand that in situations such as these, our top priority is the safety of all students by securing campuses in a timely manner.  Thankfully, the lockdown began and ended quickly, lasting approximately an hour.  Students and staff were never in any kind of imminent danger.  We appreciate the support we get from the Johnson County community, and especially, the patience showed us as we work together to ensure the safety of your children.
