The Johnson County School District extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Mrs. Jane Calhoun Couch, who passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Couch dedicated more than 30 years to education, serving as a teacher and school counselor in Johnson County Schools. Recognized as the 1991 Kentucky School Counselor of the Year, she demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to students, families, and our school community.
As her son, David Couch, so beautifully shared, “She was a scholar, musician, writer, composer, teacher, counselor, leader, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and caring friend to nearly everyone she met.”
Throughout her life, Mrs. Couch shared her remarkable talents, wisdom, and compassion with others. Her contributions extended far beyond the classroom, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students, families, and educators.
In honor of Mrs. Couch’s remarkable life and dedicated service to Johnson County Schools, the district flag will fly at half-staff on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
We are forever grateful for her service and the countless lives she touched. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A life devoted to others. A legacy that will never be forgotten.
