Flat Gap Elementary welcomed more than 220 students and 70 community members and visitors for a special day celebrating our farming community, Appalachian traditions, and the incredible things happening at our school!
Students participated in station rotations featuring farm machinery, games, face painting, apple tasting, jam making, our updated Flat Gap Garden, Crayon Crops, family farming projects, livestock, bluegrass music and dancing, and SO much more! We were especially excited to welcome students from within our district and surrounding districts to experience Farm & Field Day with us!
This day was truly STUDENT-LED! As a Leader in Me school, we believe in giving students meaningful opportunities to lead, serve, communicate, take responsibility, and share their talents. Students from all grade levels stepped up as leaders throughout the day—presenting at stations, welcoming guests, sharing information, assisting with activities, and guiding visitors from one experience to the next.
Our students didn't just participate—they LED!
Farm & Field Day is a wonderful reminder of what makes our community special: hard work, family, tradition, agriculture, music, leadership, and a love for learning. Flat Gap Elementary is proud to share our incredible school and wonderful community with others.
