The Johnson County School District is proud to announce the official establishment of the Golden Eagle Police Force, a school-based law enforcement team dedicated to protecting students, staff, and campuses across the district.

During a formal swearing-in ceremony, Mark Cantrell was officially sworn in as the inaugural Chief of the Golden Eagle Police Force, alongside Officers Jeremiah Prescott and Adam Williams. The ceremony was conducted by District Judge Brett Butcher, marking a historic moment for Johnson County Schools.

Together, the newly appointed team brings a combined total of 83 years of law enforcement experience and a shared commitment to fostering a safe, welcoming environment for all students.

Superintendent Thom Cochran shared his remarks on the milestone:

“The creation of the Golden Eagle Police Force demonstrates our district’s unwavering commitment to student safety and well-being. These officers bring not only extensive experience, but also a strong desire to build meaningful relationships with our students and school communities.”

The Golden Eagle Police Force will play an active role in daily school operations, after-school events, and community outreach—serving as both protectors and positive role models for students.
