Jeremiah has 25 years of law enforcement experience, all of them with the Orange County (CA) Sheriff’s Department.  He graduated from the nationally recognized and emulated Orange County Sheriff’s Academy in 1999.  During his law enforcement career he worked corrections and patrol operations.

While in corrections he worked all levels of security with various job assignments like training officer, emergency response team leader and less lethal instructor. In patrol, Jeremiah was a member of the Critical Incident Response Team as well as a field training officer and mentor.  He then moved into an undercover position where he would surveil, investigate and ultimately arrest people committing major crimes all over Southern California. After working undercover he promoted to sergeant. In that role he worked in a maximum security jail where he managed hundreds of inmates and numerous deputies in the nation’s 6th largest sheriff’s department.   He supervised and responded to large scale disturbances both in custody and on the streets.  He completed his career as a patrol sergeant.

During his career he was trained in conflict resolution, tactical applications, active shooter scenarios, crisis intervention, and much more.  He’s won multiple awards including the medals of merit and life saving, as well as national recognition for DUI apprehensions. In 2018, he was honored with the distinction of Deputy of the Year for his contract city.

In addition to helping raise three kids, Jeremiah mentored at-risk youth and their parents in an effort to keep them out of the criminal justice system.   He was also an advisor for his department’s explorer program. His years of experience in guidance, discipline, and education for teens and young adults has always been a driving force for his motivation to keep his community safe.

Much like some people choose to adopt and love a child, he and his wife of 31 years, chose to live in Johnson County.  They’ve lived here for three years and adopted Johnson County as their home. Jeremiah has a bachelor’s degree in Photography and an associate’s degree in Administration of Justice.

Jeremiah’s mission is to ensure the safety of the children and staff with an emphasis on lifting their spirits, self-worth and confidence.  He believes children are our most precious asset; to be loved and protected at all costs.  He is excited to bring the full measure of his expertise to Johnson County Schools.
