Johnson County Middle School - Academic Team

The Johnson County Middle School (Paintsville, Kentucky) earned the opportunity to compete in the annual Kentucky Association for Academic Competition (KAAC) event, Governor's Cup, March 8th-11th.  Kentucky’s premiere academic competition, the Governor's Cup competition encourages depth and breadth of academic knowledge, cultural literacy, teamwork, leadership, creativity, risk assessment, and critical thinking, and provides the fun that comes with being part of a team. Established in 1985, KAAC now serves over 20,000 students and nearly 1200 schools at over 400 competitions each year in Kentucky.  The Johnson County Middle School earned the 1st place title in Future Problem Solving and the 2nd place overall spot in the March 2024 competition.

With incomparable academic team success, 2024 marked the 30th consecutive regional title win for Johnson County Middle School.  Coaches Joshua Collins and Shawn Butcher led the middle school team through a competitive season that included league and tournament victories throughout the state of Kentucky this academic year.
