The Johnson County School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Cochran has been honored with the title Co-Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Education Development Cooperative (KEDC). This recognition celebrates his exceptional leadership and contributions to our schools.

Superintendent Cochran received this prestigious distinction at a ceremony held by KEDC yesterday. His wife Cristal, daughter Ava, son Grayson, and numerous dedicated employees from the district joined him.

Under his guidance, the district has seen a remarkable influx of funding, marked by a transformative $15 million grant for Full-Service Community Schools (FSCS) and a $10 million grant to create a new Career and Technical Education Center. These substantial funds represent just a portion of the financial contributions that have catalyzed the district's advancement and stability.

Superintendent Cochran matches his expertise in educational finance with influential participation in prominent educational organizations. He has served as President of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS), Chair-Elect of the KEDC, and Vice President of the Council for Better Education (CBE). He participates in statewide conversations about sustaining the education profession and its funding, as highlighted by his leadership roles in vital Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) coalitions and task forces.

His commitment to educational excellence has been the driving force behind significant district initiatives, such as:

  • The ambitious construction of the new Johnson Central High School and Transportation Facility project.

  • The appointment of Community School Coordinators/Digital Learning Instructional Coaches in every school, alongside the introduction of FSCS Teacher Leaders.

  • The district has successfully adopted innovative curriculum and assessment tools tailored to our student body's varied needs.

Superintendent Cochran's strategic foresight has also led to the creation of roles and resources centered on student support, including SEL/RTI Specialists, full-time school counselors, and ground-breaking programs like the Magnetic Reading Intervention Groups and the Leader in Me Implementation.

Embodying the district's Eagle spirit, Superintendent Cochran's vision has soared, ensuring that our students, educators, and community members benefit from an education system that is both unified and exemplary in growth.

We sincerely appreciate the path he has paved, fostering continual progress in our schools. We invite the entire Eagle Community to join us in celebrating Superintendent Cochran's exceptional achievement.
