Castle Elected High School Vice-President of the Kentucky School Counselors Association

Johnson County Schools is honored to announce that Mrs. Kim Castle was elected as the high school vice president of the Kentucky School Counselors Association

Kim Castle is the Career and Technical Education counselor at Johnson Central High School, and has a Masters and Rank I in School Counseling. She has been serving students at JCHS for the last 17 years.  Along with her daily counseling activities, Mrs. Castle has been very committed to several different programs which have enriched educational experiences for students.  She serves as Career Counselor for Youth Career Connect, a grant that provides assistance with funding  Project Lead the Way, the nation’s leading provider of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs. 

As YCC Career Counselor she also helped develop the Achievement In Career Engagement (ACE) program, a process of developing work-based learning skills through an endorsement program based on levels of successful accomplishments, personalized by students, and confirmed through KEDC. 

Castle has also provided services to students through the Building Assets, Reducing Risks (BARR) program. The BARR model uses eight interlocking strategies that build intentional relationships, utilize real-time data, and enable schools to achieve concrete academic, social, and emotional outcomes for all students. 

One of Mrs. Castle's passions as school counselor is career and technical education along with student transition.  She works with students in determining which of the 27 career pathways they will follow while at Johnson Central High School based on their personalized interests.  In addition she provides students with the opportunity to gain credentialing through industry certification. Mrs. Castle lives in Oil Springs, Kentucky with her husband Mike who is a retired educator and still actively works with Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG).  Together they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.  When not at work, Mrs. Castle enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
