FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
February 1, 2017
Dear Parents, Students, Faculty and Staff:
During the month of February we want our students to share their learning of the Leader in Me 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids.  The first seven days of February we have designated a habit a day for them to share with at home.  .  We hope you enjoy learning about the 7 Habits from your kids!  On February 14th (Valentines’ Day), we would LOVE for you to share how the Leader in Me and the 7 Habits have helped your child at home.  I will be sending home a note pad for you to use to write/print your response.   We would LOVE to hear about how your child is using the habits or how you’ve seen a specific habit change their behavior at home.  (Thanks in advance for participating!)
Remember, we willbe in school on President’s Day, February 20th. Of course, this is also the month of love and Valentine’s Day…so please remember that vases, flowers, candy, stuffed animals, balloons, etc. will not be permitted on school busses.  If you do send something to school for your child on Tuesday, February 14th, someone will need to pick that item up after school.  Also, February 17th is an Early Release Day for Students and we will dismiss at 12:15-12:30PM.
Our school-wide Spring Fundraiser kicks off this month.  We utilize this fundraiser to help support instructional and school needs for our students.  Funds help cover assembly costs, instructional materials, field trips, student incentives, and a host of other things for our school.  Without the funds from this fundraiser we would have to transfer the cost over to our families. Many districts have students pay as they go for materials, field trips, etc. or simply don’t offer them at all.  We have always taken pride in offering these important activities for our students at no cost to students.  This fundraiser allows us to afford opportunities for ALL kids not just those who can afford them. Helping your child sell only 10 orders or more makes a substantial difference in what we can do each year for all kids.  Please help us by selling a minimum of only 10.  If you can sell more…that would be awesome!  Again, this year we are going with the Pre-portioned Cookie Dough!  These cookies are amazzzzing!!!  You simply take the number of cookies you want to prepare out of the box (frozen or refrigerated) and bake!  So, so EASY and VERY good! Let’s make this cookie dough sell a banner event for our school!
Don’t forget that Friday, February 17th is the last date to order 2016-2017 Yearbooks!  Our Academic Team will continue their season through the month and we wish them the best of luck in county, district, and regional competition.  Also, want to wish our Community Problem Solving team members good luck as they compete soon. GO PANTHERS!!!
Be mindful that NTI Days are days that they district will get to count toward the school instructional days if we have a high participation rate and show evidence of student work.  IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE HAVE 100% PARTICIPATION IN ORDER TO CONTINUE TO OFFER IT TO OUR STUDENTS AND FAMILIES! WE ALSO ENCOURAGE 80% OR BETTER ON THE QUALITY OF THE WORK ASSIGNED.  .
Parent Conferences for the Mid-Term is Wednesday, February 8, 2017.  As a parent, you play an essential role in helping your child with being successful in his/her studies at school.  Talk with your child’s teacher about your child’s academic progress and continue to help us with having high expectations for learning. Teachers can do face-to-face or phone conferences.
Yours in education,
Mrs. Sandra Music,
Principal
